Founded in 1967 the Australasian Procurement and Construction Council Inc (APCC) (formerly the National Public Works Council) is the peak council of departments responsible for procurement, construction and asset management policy for the Australian, State and Territory governments and the New Zealand government. Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council
The Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC) is the peak body of key organisations committed to a sustainable built environment in Australia.
ASBEC members consists of industry and professional associations, non-government organisations and government observers who are involved in the planning, design, delivery and operation of our built environment, and are concerned with the social and environmental impacts of this sector.
ASBEC provides a forum for diverse groups involved in the built environment to gather, find common ground and intelligently discuss contentious issues.
Council of Capital City Lord Mayors
The Council of Capital City Lord Mayors (CCCLM) represents the combined interests of the Capital Cities of the Australian states and territories in their relations with the Federal Government, and facilitates coordination and the sharing of innovative policy ideas across the cities. The CCCLM consists of the principal members of all seven capital city councils and the ACT Minister for Territory and Municipal Services. The CCCLM secretariat is based in Canberra.
Australian Construction Industry Forum
The Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF) is focused on creating a competitive construction and property industry that is a leader in building Australia’s prosperity.
As well as facilitating communication between the different interests that make up the construction sector, ACIF provides governments and other agencies with a central and efficient industry liaison point. ACIF harnesses the energies of its members to provide leadership and facilitate change within the industry, to increase productivity, efficiency, research and innovation.
ACIFs flagship Construction Forecasting Council produces the most reliable forecasts of activity in residential and non-residential building, and engineering construction, twice yearly. Built Environment Industry Innovation Council
Senator Kim Carr, Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research announced the establishment of the Built Environment Industry Innovation Council (BEIIC) and the appointment of Ms Sue Holliday as the inaugural chair of the BEIIC at the 2008 BEMP Summit.
The BEIIC acts as an advisory body to the Minister and as an innovation advocate for the industry. The Council considers industry innovation challenges like climate change, sustainability and industry competitiveness as well as issues such as regulatory reform, workforce capability, skills needs, access to new technologies and other priorities for the industry. Members of BEIIC have been drawn from representatives from business, the research community, unions and government agencies.
The BEIIC will provide leadership to the built environment sector. It will communicate the Government's innovation policies and goals, build relationships and linkages with the Enterprise Connect Network, peak industry bodies and other stakeholders.
